Should ‘Athleisure’ stay in 2016?

Many will probably look at the title of this post and think I’ve stared making up words, but I haven’t, promise! In fact Vogue featured a whole article dedicated to people wearing athletic wear as fashion statements. I for one know how easy it is when you are feeling extremely lazy to throw on a pair of exercise leggings and a glam hoodie (bit of sparkle = GLAM) with a pair of Nike trainers and call it ‘fashion’ however in 2016 the trend has been taken to a new extreme.

Shops like  have bought into this hugely by partnering with Beyoncé to create a line of ‘exercise’ wear that they stock in every shop.

The brand is depicted outside showing that Beyoncé is being active. However the ad very much focuses on the clothes and when looking at the picture all I can think is “wow I’d love to be a slob in those leggings, they look comfy” which is probably not what the advert is trying to achieve.

Loads of celebrities have taken on this fashion trend, such as Gigi Hadid but she doesn’t look like a slob at all!

Now the main question is, should this trend be left in 2016 along with the trends such as shoelace choker necklaces? I vote no. Its comfy, you LOOK like you exercise AND it doesn’t involve much of an effort to pull out your wardrobe in the morning and throw together. It’s a win all around, but please have your say, leave a comment below with what you think!
